Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
