Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
