Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
āLife is Pain Without Youā: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the production, adding that he cannot recall "any day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the deaths, public figures expressed different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics recently. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate should have acted when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
