Experience the Reimagined Legendary Journey: This Free Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Lands Soon.
Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. An free-to-play playable preview will go live on Jan. 7, providing a substantial taste into the game's opening hours. Importantly, all progress made within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the main game upon its eventual release.
More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Complete Transformation
This title is a comprehensive re-envisioning of the landmark year 2000 RPG, initially released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable step away from other Dragon Quest re-releases, like the recently released HD-2D iterations, this version utilizes a unique 3D art style. The world appear to look like detailed dioramas, with party members having a delightful chibi-esque appearance.
"Even with the previous version, the main quest was still quite lengthy. Consequently, the team reached a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] make this adventure for modern audiences."
Major Gameplay Changes & Modernizations
The creators has implemented numerous enhancements to streamline the classic experience. These include:
- Expedited Overworld Battles: Similar to modern role-playing games, low-level monsters are now dispatched instantly on the field without entering a full traditional battle sequence.
- Adjustable Battle Pace: Gamers can speed up battle sequences to rapidly power through easier fights.
- Expanded Job System: One completely new character role was created for this reimagining. Furthermore, party members now have the option to take on a second vocation, greatly enhancing strategic options.
Such alterations seek to tackle one of the 2000 title's most noted criticisms: its considerable playtime. The initial main quest could easily require more than 100 hours to see through. This new version has been expressly structured to refine progression and reduce perceived bloat.
