People have assembled across the country to commemorate two years since the Hamas-initiated offensive on October 7th, 2023, as discussions continued in Egypt over a resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

The incident led to over 1,200 people killed and 251 others taken away to Gaza as hostages. It was the most deadliest day for Jewish people since the Second World War.

Israel reacted by launching a armed campaign in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, as reported by the territory's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its numbers are regarded as trustworthy by the UN and other international bodies.

"Our bloodthirsty enemies have hit us hard, but they have not overcome us," Benjamin Netanyahu stated on that day.

He also promised to "realize all the objectives of the war: the homecoming of all the abducted, the elimination of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will not pose a risk to Israel".

Memorial Ceremonies Across Israel

The government authorities delayed state remembrance events until October 16th - after the end of the festive season - but gatherings still occurred across the country on Tuesday.

A remembrance service for the loved ones of Israeli citizens who died in the Hamas assault was organized in Tel Aviv. Arranged by the affected families, it was broadcast across Israeli television channels.

Hours earlier, a moment of silence was respected around the country.

Ceasefire Meetings in Egypt

Meanwhile, Israeli and Hamas representatives convened in the Egyptian coastal city of the Egyptian city for a follow-up session of third-party negotiations to review the provisions of the plan.

A prominent delegate familiar with the talks revealed that an evening round of negotiations started at evening in Egypt.

The representative said the day's discussions finished without concrete outcomes, due to differences over the proposed Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas seeks to ensure Israel does not resume hostilities after the opening period of the agreement.

He added that the negotiations are "challenging and have still not achieve any major advancement," but pointed out that intermediaries are striving to close the gaps between the conflicting groups.

Key Issues in Discussions

  • A permanent halt to fighting
  • The exchange of the prisoners still held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Plans for relief supplies deliveries
  • After-conflict governance of the territory

Citizen Reaction

In the city's Hostages Square previously, young a woman - whose family member lived through the attack on the gathering, where 378 people were murdered and numerous more were abducted by Hamas militants - explained: "No location appears as home now and until each abducted person come back not a single person will be secure."

"When we see everybody home again, we can breathe anew. Then we can commence rebuild," she added.

In front of the prime minister's residence in the capital, people congregated to show their backing for the loved ones of the hostages. Israel states 48 continue in captivity in Gaza, 20 of whom are considered to be alive.

Activist one woman explained: "It's necessary do whatever arrangement necessary for the abducted to return. But we truly desire assurances that we will be safe."

Research now frequently demonstrate that around seventy percent of the population want the hostilities to finish in as payment for the freedom of the abducted.

Palestinian Circumstances

At the area of the music event, mourners gathered to pay their respects.

From that location, the noise of Israeli air strikes and shelling could be noticed just a brief space away in Gaza, where local people reported the intense Israeli attacks carried on.

In Gaza City, bombardments were reported in the early hours of that day in the west side Tal al-Hawa, sector and locality districts and in the east side area of that sector, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwestern area.

"Once the night falls, the dread arrives with it," relocated Gaza City resident a local woman, whose teenage son was lost his life by an Israeli bombing previously, shared.

"We are fearful of the air strikes. During nighttime we are sleeping together, holding each other, especially my smallest child who places his head on me all night."

"Continuously we look at the news to see the situation. And I'm worried that this halt will not be completed and that the conflict will resume to us."

Humanitarian Situation

Al-Shifa hospital in the urban area announced it had accepted the corpses of six people by the afternoon, including three who lost their lives in an Israeli strike in the southern area.

Nasser hospital in the southern urban center of the city said another two victims had been transported. A person was killed by Israeli forces while looking for aid to the south region, medics reported.

The region's health ministry reported a significant number of the {territ
