Approximately 55,000 households have currently been impacted by the weather, with their possessions and dwellings destroyed.

Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have compounded the already dire circumstances of the vast number of evacuated civilians in the Gaza Strip, as stated by aid agencies.

"Horrendous" Weather Creates Grave Dangers

A spokesman detailed the previous night's conditions as "horrendous", with downpours so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.

"Last night was truly terrible for the families. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gusts were so powerful," stated the official.

Officials express grave worry that young ones living in temporary structures in soaked attire will fall victim to hypothermia and additional ailments.

Casualties and Extensive Damage

Health authorities have stated that one baby has passed away from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures caused by the storms.

Further statements put a increased number of casualties. Spokespeople said that several homes had collapsed completely and scores had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated refuges severely flooded.
  • Countless residents required to move once more.

Assistance Distribution Deemed Not Enough

Groups have increased shipments of shelter, warm covers and garments since the halt in hostilities began, but they have said there is still not enough aid getting in.

"Officials are working relentlessly to deliver that relief and to hand it out, but the scale of the necessities is so immense that we continue to see a great number of people and children who are truly struggling every night," cautioned one official.

Future Issues and Agreement Plans

The next stage of the agreement encompasses plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of troops, and other terms.

Relief bodies have highlighted the need for "increased and sustained aid to respond to immediate and long-term needs."

The conflict was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Following military operations have caused a high number of casualties in the area, as per health ministry figures.
